Seattle - Day 1 - To the Locks

One of the highlights was the stop at the Locks. Salmon were jumping and a sea lion was having feast. A tug entered the larger lock carrying 5000 tons of rock heading to a port on Lake Washington.

Numerous pleasure craft were using the smaller lock.
A Cruise West Ship, Spirit of Discovery, was in the lock with lower windows boarded in preparation for its relocation trip into the ocean to the Columbia River. 10 years ago the whole family cruised in Alaska on the Spirit of Alaska, one of the ships in Cruise West Fleet, so we have a special place in our hearts for any of their ships.
